Making the Right Choice in a Home Business

With the economy getting more and more difficult to survive, many families are looking for ways to bring home more money without the added work of a second job. That is an extremely difficult task, money has to be earned, therefor it is work. However, there are smart ways of bringing in money that will free up your time later.

The very first thing you need to decide is what you want out of life. You need a dream, a big dream, but not so big that you can't see yourself getting there. What is important to you? Spending more time with your family without compromising your finances? Getting out of debt? A new car? Being able to do what you want when you want? The freedom from a boss?

The next step is to decide how you want to get there. Is owning your own company going to get you there? Yes, it will, but the type of company makes all the difference. Brick and mortar companies require large amounts of money to get started and to maintain supplies, pay employees, insurance, utilitiesand advertising. If you had $20,000 laying around for that you probably would not be looking for more money. A home business requires much less of an investment, and affords the flexibility to take time off. Some may require inventory, some may not. However, if your business does not provide residual income, time off means no money coming in.

Next you need to decide what kind of product or service to provide. You want a product that you not only do not have to "sell" people on, but one that they already want. Ask yourself several questions:

  1. Is this a product that I would use regardless?
  2. Who uses the product?
  3. Is this a one-time purchase, or will there be repeat purchases?
  4. Is there residual income?
  5. Can I make money upfront while waiting on residual income to grow?
  6. Do I need to have inventory on hand?

Then you need to be trained. Marketing without knowledge is the kiss of death. Lack of training, good training, is what causes most people to fail in network marketing. A good mentor in the business who is willing to train you and work with you is one of the top signs of a good business. Follow the guy who is making the kind of money that you want, not the person who isn't making money. Reading books on people skills, sales skills, and confidence building will increase your earning potential.

Once you have a goal and have chosen the right business with a mentor, you will be ready to get started. But there is one final thing that you need to be prepared to do.

Help other people achieve their goals.

If someone's success is hinged on your success, and your success is hinged on someone else's success, you will be a team working together for the good of everyone. Doing good things for people will bring rewards to you. Pay it forward.

I wanted to be able to pay my bills, stay home with my children, and be able to put them in sports or send them to events without going into debt to it. I did not set out to be wealthy. I set out to have a better life for my family and to help others have a better life with their family.

With a business that markets products that nearly everyone is already using (cell phones, television services, internet, home phones) I was able to easily make a residual income with little sales experience. I never have to touch the product, or even do the ordering, which saves me time. That is exactly the kind of business that I needed.

I avoided the pitfalls of harassing friends and family by only sponsoring people who were looking for a business, they came to me through the internet.

You, too, can achieve your dreams by following these steps.
